There are a lot of ideas floating about as to which bullet/weight is the "best". I've let my fingers walk through the balistics tables to get an idea as to which weight is the best "compromise" because ALL bullet shapes and sizes are compromises in some way.
I like a heavy bullet for caliber with a high BC...not the heaviest but one near the top of the weight range. Most of the time you can get a high enough muzzle velocity where a high BC bullet will end up with more energy at the longer range than a bullet with a lower BC bullet that starts out faster.
But it depends on the range you expect your game to be killed at, the design of the bullet, how you hold your mouth when you pull the trigger and all the other nuances that enter into the picture that most people never ever think about.
I think the '06 does it's best work with 175-200 gr bullets and that is the weight range I pick. H4350, RL-19 and 22 and N-204 all seem to produce the highest velocities and any brand bullet...some do better than others in the accuracy department, but you have to work that out for yourself and what your rifle likes.
SMK's almost always are the top dogs for accuracy and target work, GK's for game, Parts and Accubonds always do well...sometime's it just what's on sale.
