Can't get the .223 to shoot

Well I Had two handies and decided to send a receiver in to get fitted for another barrel. I wanted the one I was sending away to have the new barrel it was receiving to be its only barrel. I took the .223 barrel off and tried it on my other receiver and it shut but didnt lock. Filled the latch and rounded the barrel hinge area very little at a time until it locked up and it was minimal filling needed to acheive it. Have been to the range 3 times with 3 different 50 & 55 grain ammo and the thing will not group. Its a 9 twist. Shoot two rounds at 50 and think it is good go to 100 and not even on paper. thought it might have been the scope so changed that and had the same result. There is play in the release as noted in the barrel fitting in FAQ so any help or thought would be appreciated.

How's the barrel to frame fit at the standing breech, any gap that you can see light through or measure with a feeler gauge blade? Latch engagement? Without the forend on, is the barrel tight with absolutely no looseness?

A short while ago, I bought a new .223 with the new style checkered synthetic stock, and it shot right out of the box.......It did until a day or so ago when the new beagle slam dunked it.  Knocked it over on the floor and put the scope out.  Now, I don't know what it's doing, but I'll be shooting it this weekend and soon find out.  My standard contour 22 In. Handi .223 is one of the very few inherently accurate rifles I've owned in my lifetime.

I'm sure there's a fix.  Try what Tim suggests.  When you find the problem and fix it, it'll punch dimes at 100.

And have you bedded the scope rail and made sure the screws arent bottoming out, etc.? How about checking the buttstock bolt torque?

I havent bedded the scopr rail but I did take the butt stock off to refinish it. Tightened it to what felt was how it was on previously when I put it back
