Bought a new Ruger 7m-08 last year put a tasco EXP scope on it it shot fine last year when I zeroed it not great ( 2" group ) I was hunting in thick woods so I let it go at that. This year I figured I would fine tune it not happening I believe it is getting worse have tried hornady light mag. federal classics and remington shells all seem to do the same first shot somewhere close second 2 to 3 inches left 3 shot 2 to 3 inches right no tight pattern has anyone else had trouble with Rugers or Tasco scopes.

I would first check to see if scope mount or bases might have worked loose, happened to me a time or two with the results you described. I have had a new scope malfunction due to excessive recoil, although this is probably not the case with your rifle/scope combination. I have had several Tasco scopes over the years with only one crosshair breakage. Third possibility "the flinch factor" A young lad came over last weekend with a .270 and shot well first 5 rounds, then groups spread dramatically due to flinching, the more he shot, the worse it got.

I trust the Tasco World Class scopes. No others.

I'd check the bedding which I'm quite sure isn't done correctly. BUT also make sure the scope base/rings are not loose and also change out the scope to be sure that's not the problem.

How much cleaning have you done of the barrel? Is it perhaps copper fouled badly?

Have you removed the jacket metal fouling in the bore? Normal cleaning just won't do. I use a cleaner called Sweet's 7.62 . It really works and is fairly quick. It canb't be left in the bore for extended periods but will remove the jacket metal down to bare steel. Perhaps it's just a fouled bore? Unfortunately my experiences with tasco scopes have been less than stellar. Have had or seen a bunch of them go south.. If nothing else proves out change to a scope of know quality and try that..

Check the action screws holding the action in the stock. Tighten the front screw first and then alternate between the screws in front of and behind the trigger guard. The screw in front of the trigger guard doesn't get tightened more than enough to hold the trigger guard in place. The rear most screw is tight.
