Just got back from the range. My hornady manual goes to 150 grain bullets. It lists 25.7 imr 4198 as max. I had already chronied some sieraa 150 fp bullets (30-30 ) using a 25.3 grain imr 4198 charge I had worked up to without any pressure signsand was getting right at 2200 fps out of my 14" tube. I decided on 24.5 grains of imr 4198 with the 160 ftx bullets. My 3 shot average was an amazing 2284 fps. I didn't shoot anymore as I saw pressure signs and will pull the other 7 bullets and back down to 24 grains of imr 4198. I thought that getting a higher fps with a heavier bullet and less powder seemed odd but, maybe it was a combination of weight /charge efficiency or something like that. I didn't have a lot of time before going to range and I primarily went to work on my 7 tcu loads.
