Well this last week, I went to the MT Youth Bowhunter Camp again. We had a great time all week, but I left early because my new grand daughter was born.
But during the week, we had several gopher hunts, as these are called here in Montana the Richardson Ground Squirrel. The kids with the modern compounds did okay, but several of the kids brought traditional bows with several that were recurves and another kid that brought a PSE longbow.
The compound shooters coudn't believe it when this old fart got several of them ground squirrels with the longbow using my Easton 2117's that I painted and fletched myself with white feathers. One kid was having trouble with his modern compound that did not have a peep sight but did have pins. I asked him if I could shoot it, and he was surprized to see me hit not once but twice at what I was just looking at, and not even raising the bow up to use the sight pins with. He asked, "How come I can't hit anything with that bow, and you can?" I told him to practice, practice and more practice.
All in all, us guy's with traditional bows, did real good. Proving once again, that you don't need no wheelie bows to get the job done.
