Monte Carlo synthetic for G!?
« on: July 08, 2010, 07:07:19 AM »
Hope I get get some info here. I have a late model G1 carbine with synthetic stock. I am having a hard time keeping my eye properly centered with the low stock. Shooting my G2 is much easier with the MC wood stock. Is there a synthetic Monte Carlo stock available for the first generation, or do I need to look for a wood stock?

I hope you get a positive reply, I just recently entered the carbine arena and was wondering the same thing.  My synthetic stock is fine for open sights but lousy for the height of a 40mm rifle scope.

Plan B may be one of those strap on cheekpieces.

Don't know of any synthetic stocks but but Bullberry and Highplains gunstocks both have nice high combs on them. On my Highplains it would be hard to get low enough to even use iron sights!

I've never used these but I've heard good things about them http://www.snipercentral.com/karsten.htm

I am a lefty, so I don't think that would work. I guess I will take the cheap route and buy the strap on cheekpiece.

I added a glue on cheekpiece on a synthetic stocked Savage a few years ago.  I don't recall the maker, but they had several thicknesses, and they could be ground to just the right height.  They could be used left or right.

I did a web search for "glue on cheek piece" and found several sources, but I like this DIY idea: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=64781  It doesn't look bad on a synthetic stock.
