little shooter
« on: July 08, 2010, 06:15:07 AM »
I took my 12 yr old to the range yesterday... started her out with the ruger mark 3. Her first 3 shots hit the 8.5 x 11 paper at 25 yds. She is excited and ready to go again. Soon it will be a handi... Gotta love it..

Its like the Cats in the Cradle song by Harry Chapin...

There is only so much time we get to spend with them... and they grow up so fast, and they change their focus. So I am grabbing this "chunk of time" before its gone, and I'm teaching her about gun safety and how fun it can be just to shoot at a target.

Our kids are gifts from God. Our job is to train them up the way they should go... for me that includes hunting and fishing... and shootin'

thank you for your comments!

Congratulations mrcoolid, it is apparant you have done a great job of parenting, and you have a great daughter. Spend as much time with her as you can, because one day very soon you are going to turn around and she will be grown, I know that from expierence....<><....:)

I started my son shooting when he was 8, He joined the schoolastic clay target program (SCTP) when he was 12. his novice squad went to the nationals in Vandalia Ohio and placed 11th in the world. He is 17 now and we still cherish our time in the woods together. We were together last deer season when he got his first deer a spike horn buck. ya can't make better memories than that. We pick on him that he scored a whole 7 1/2 in boone & crockit.

Nice work Dad! I love taking my daughters shooting with me.
