Target Panic Anyone?
« on: July 05, 2010, 04:22:12 PM »
Anyone else have this problem with bullseye targets or 5 spot targets? Put a single spot up or a game target I can hit very accurately and with tite groupings but... Put up a bullseye and I'll just as likely miss the whole target. Been this way since I started shooting bows 30 years ago. In Indiana there was a little bow shop and range I used a lot. The owner found great delight in putting up bullseye target and watching me go nuts after shooting paper spots taped to the backstop. Said he had never seen such a severe case in all his years in archery. I shoot pretty well otherwise, even won a few 3D shoots. But bullseyes ??? Don't have this problem with firearms just traditional archery.

I've always been able to shoot better at one small target or at 3d animals.  When I'm shooting at arrow stop bags, I generally cover it with something and put one of those small sticky back rifle targets on it, then shoot.  I perfer a 3d deer target, and get my best results (groups) shooting at them.

I don't use bullseye or 5 spot targets with traditional shooting, but use 3-D or bag target for a center mass hit.

No target panic involved in snap shooting.

Cottonwood, I only shoot traditional equipt. Snap shooting is how I shoot. Never had this problem with guns or when I strayed and tried compounds. I just can't focus with all them rings out there I guess ::) Good thing deer and hogs don't have rings like that ;D Squirrels neither. So I suppose its not a problem unless somebody paints them!
