huntsman
« on: July 05, 2010, 04:55:27 AM »
I have question I bought a huntsman, new stock, stainless barrel, with a nickel receiver, I'am quiet sure it is a sb2 frame. I matched it up to my handi and the lg. looks the same. Can I purchase high pressure barrels for it being it came out a 50 cal. muzzleloader form the factory? ser. nt346334 Kernbigo

if its a factory huntsman.... i believe its a sb1, cud be wrong too.
but i know mine is a factory sb1.  remove the stock and see if receiver is skeletonized-sb2 or solid-sb1
see the FAQ's  ;D

That link is to a Sidekick, not a Huntsman....two very different animals.  The Sidekick is not a "friearm" because centerfire, shotgun or rimfire barrels can't be fit to it.  The Huntsman frame will take all, making it a firearm.  Mine is on a SB1 frame.  Pull the stock and look at the area around the stock bolt hole in the frame.  If it is solid, it is a SB1, skeletonized, SB2.

If the frame is marked Huntsman, it's likely an SB1 frame, but there have been SB2 Huntsman combos made that came with a centerfire rifle barrel such as .243Win. The only way to know for sure is remove the stock and compare it to the pics in the FAQs, as has been said, if it's solid around around the tang bolt hole, it's an SB1 and only shotgun, 357mag and 44mag accessory barrels can be fitted to it if it was made 1987 or later which yours is.

Also, the older huntsman was not a firearm either, and under the stock it is half hollow and half solid.  I really really want a Sidekick frame.  Larry

While having more than a few drinks the other night I came up with probably my best project yet, partly inspired by the ML barrel I just finished, but it is definatedly cool, and the best thing is that it still seemed like a good idea the next morning!  Find me a Sidekick frame and I will start the process with pictures, I have already ordered up some parts I will need, so I will get it going when I get a frame.  Larry
