Is Just Me????
« on: June 29, 2010, 02:59:59 PM »
Or would the extractors work a little better if they could move just a little more further out away from the breach?  I thought about filing a little of the stop, but gave it a second thought and decided to see what folks with more knowledge than myself thought.

See the ejector to factory extractor conversion in the FAQs. The factory cam doesn't have the capability of increasing the extractor projection, using an ejector instead of the extractor and a small spring between it and the extractor cam provides all the extraction range the action will accommodate, it can't extract any further than the standing breech, in fact it must be slightly short of the standing breech face, or it's hard to get the round past the ejector post.

One day, I'll grow up and git ejicated and unerstand all Tim splanes.  Seriously Tim refit an extractor on one of my Handis giving it, what Tim, another quarter or third of an inch of grab?  Perhaps even a bit more.  All I can tell ya is it's sweet.  You could pull the case out with your teeth if you had to.  Another thanks for Tim.

Factory extractors move out about .150"-.170, my modification gets it out about .225"-.240" or so, not quite ¼", but it seems to be a lot more than it really is when it comes to having something to grab. ;)

Thanks once more Tim.  I completely pass that up thinking it was a full modification to an ejector when all I wanted was about an 1/8 of an inch more from my extractor.  I see your mod can give me even more.  ;D ;D ;D
