Acquiring a .45 Colt Accessory Barrel
« on: June 27, 2010, 03:34:42 AM »
The last time I checked NEF's web site they no longer offered .45 Colt accessory barrels.  This being the case, what sources should I check for after market/used barrels?  If I can get one, would I have to send both it and my receiver back to the factory for fitting or could I have a local gunsmith do it?

Check the NEF/H&R Classifieds forum for one. If ones not there go the Wanted to Buy NEF/H&R forum. Once you get one, go to the FAQ's and read the Barrel Fitting posts (start with Quick's). I've done a 20 gauge and a 45-70 and both took minutes.

+1 on Kevin's recommendation, many used barrels are available in our classifieds, If you want a 45LC Carbine, CDNN still had them in stock a couple days ago for $229.99. The only aftermarket barrels available are gunsmith custom stubs for $250-$350.

Per H&R rep last week, they are no longer being made, even to repair a gun with an issue.  So might be better off to get a gun definitely.  8(
