"News Flash"!
« on: June 26, 2010, 11:04:48 AM »

  Dear Guys,

I heard a wild rumor that some guy up north recently bought a brand new Handi-rifle in a popular caliber, and that it actually loads, fires, and ejects on a consistent basis with no problems whatsoever!  What is wilder still is that the rifle apparently groups right around one inch!

Now I know that this story is hard to believe, but I thought I would just pass it on for further research.   Imagine.  No tinkering, reaming, drilling, banging, altering, repairing, mailing back, or other standard activities!  How in the world did this one ever get out of the factory?  :-)

Best, Mannyrock

I hope they don't start selling rifles w/o issues, otherwise this Forum will dry up and blow away! ;)

I've had a mess of them and they all worked without a single issue.

So far all the complete guns I've bought have been like that.  Except the .44 mag, it's about 1.5-2" at 100 yards, but I ain't loved on it like the others....might be giving it to my brother now that I have a 22" 45-70 barrel.....

I must be the guy "up north"  I just got three, a .223, .30-30 and 7.62x39.  It is strange, they all work and shoot well.  Just boring.

I have to say that judging from what I have read here, I would be a little shy on a 7.62 x 39 rifle!  But with the addition of a Wolff spring, I think you could solve most of the issues.  Petemi, I'm glad for you that you found that one and that is works so well for you.  You have renued my faith, it certainly would be a fun caliber to shoot.  You certainly don't have to worry about the cost of ammo!  44 Man

44 Man, I'm still trying to figure out if I can reload 7.62X39 as cheap as I can buy junk ammo without the labor.  I really never intended it to be used as a big game rifle.  It's just fun to shoot.

You can't. Not with name brand components. 7.62x39 is 20 cents a round in case quantities and getting cheaper. Reloadable brass ain't the cheapest. And with only name brand bullets available, you are probably at 35 cents a round if you get 5 reloads out of a piece of brass.

The cheap stuff rarely works in the Handi.
