I have been eyeballing a 44mag. SB1 $245.00 Used but in very good shape. I think. The problem is that
when I check the rifling I can hardly see it. Is this some sort of micro rifling or is it wore out ?
Shop owner was no help. Hopefully you guys can help. reclusej

It may be micro groove ,I have 2- 44 mag handis ,1 micro and 1 button cut. My new Talo carbine that is not micro, but the grooves are not very deep . Both shoot fine and hold a fair group. That is my 2 cents. 26-t

Microgroove 44mag barrels have very well defined rifling, 12 grooves, I don't think the SB1 framed 44mags are MG, just the older models. At least two members here have them. Bud's has the SB1 44mag for $211 including shipping.

I have a SB1 Talo 44mag with a 18.5" barrel and SB2 HX frame with a 20" barrel, neither are micro grove.

I slugged the bores on my 44mags and the Micro groove barrel measured .431 and the Talo barrel measured .429. 26-t
