New Tikka Whitetail - floorplate action screw torque?
«

I had my new Tikka whitetail synthetic out shootin the other day and was wondering if the torque on the floorplate screws (that hold the action to stock) makes much of a difference in accuracy with these rifles.
The rifle did not shoot as well as previously and I took it apart for a good cleaning after the previous session. Do these screws need to be torqued the same ? How Much?
I've read where this may be an issue on one rifle and not on another..
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance Doug

I have learned that if you tighten the front screw to tightly the gun will string shots. I now just snug it up, not white knuckle it. I have a WH syn/blu in 243.

Thanks Randy. I'll try it snug. I tend to overtighten most things.

I too try to not overtighten the screws on my Tikka. I think that Remington needs to be torqued about 65 pounds or so (I certainly may be wrong). Seeing that I don't have a torque tool, I just keep the screws on all of my rifles just "snug."
