chamber / bore polish

Lots of great info here.
I have read the Faq post on polishing the chamber and bore using a bore mop and patch with compound on it. What I was wondering was if this could be done with Flitz using a Bore Snake? What about a light coat of flitz on 6-9 of the bullets to polish the bore?

My rifle is the SB2 308 with the brown laminate stock scope is a Kahles ZF 69 6x42.
Comerical has pretty good ejection after the first 10 rounds were fired. However, surplus South African ball ammo ejects about 1% of the time. The rifle has under 100 rounds fired through it.

I did a 25m zero and set the BDC for 200m I wont get to shoot at 1,2 and 300 until next week and would like to have the ejection issue cleared up by then. Any thoughts  or tips on this technique or others would be great.

I have read a post or two that caution on the "fire" polishing of the handi barrels.  IF you use too abrasive a polishing agent you can wipe out your rifling.  I think the prevailing wisdon is to use JB or Flitz & do it manually.  Having said this, I have fire polished my 223 Handi because nothing else was improving the accuracy.  I only did it one time with one round, not repeatedly.  I haven't had ejection problems with my Handis so I am no help on the chamber polishing.  One of the more experienced members should be along shortly to help out.

What type of critter do you expect to see through your Kahles?

Welcome! See the ejector tune info in the FAQs, that's the best advice for making an ejector work best, it may still not work with milsurp ammo, the H&R owner's manual recommends against using any non-SAAMI ammo in their firearms, usually for good reason as you've experienced.

Thanks for the quick replies on this guys. I will use the techniques in the faq section.
Like I said I havent shot it at actual range other than doing the 25/200 zero. I will be happy if it holds an inch and half with off the shelf ammo.   I used it as my primary deer rifle last year with a Millet DMS-1 on it. Never got a shot off due to counting antlers when I should have been pressing the trigger.
(so much for fast doughnut reticle on target).

BB- Big critters with that #1 german reticle. I was gonna put a nikon BDC 3x9 but after looking thru the Kahles at dusk and dawn.....

One round of abrasive coated bullet is not going to do much, it's like taking one stroke with a piece of sandpaper.
