30/30 Win 94 with octagonal barrel ?

I saw a Win 94 30/30 with an octagonal barrel some time ago. I have just about convinced myself I need a 30/30 . Does any one know what the model was called ? I think the receiver may have been brass plated. Barrell was about 26 inch. Are they rare - I am only after a shooter ? Pete

octagon barreled, brass framed Winchesters, are sometimes called Henry.

I know of at least two of the commemoratives  with octagon barrels. The Canadian Centennial is a 30-30 with 26 inch barrel, blued receiver. The Oliver Winchester has a gold receiver and is a 38-55. I'm sure there are more, but those are the two I am familiar with.

They sold a "classic" for a while with an octagon in both carbine and rifle length. I belive in the late 70's

You will find Commemorative 94"s biccentennials for Canada and the USA. As well for the PCMP as well as for native tribes like the cheyene , the souix and one as the little big Horn , just to name a few .
The bicenteninnials sport the 26 to 20 inch barrels and are common in 30/30 , while some are chambered in 38/55, 44/40 and the like.
Fired , or with out a box , or less than perfect (In Canada) price is close to the $500.00  Canadain mark .

From around 1965 to around 1971.  I've got one, a rifle.  Very accurate shooter.  Those Classic models had exceptional wood for the time, but like all things during that era, Winchester had very little taste in styling, and needlessly gussied them up with a gold plated loading gate and some cast-in "engraving around the edge of the receiver.  I got mine when I was working at their factory.  I didn't want the gold loading gate so they switched it out for a standard black one.  They were playing around with a new (then) style lifter for possible future production.  It was cast steel, not a stamping.  I was asked if I wanted to try it.  Yup.  It's still working fine after all these years.

The Canada gun came with 16 or 26 inch bbl .

The Canadian Cenntenial  in carbine size has a 20" bbl. I have one and the extra weight in the bbl makes for sweet shooting. Have always wanted the rifle version but they never seem to be around when I have the money or just the opposite. Frank

In 1969 Winchester made the 30-30 Theodore Roosevelt Commemoratives, heavy octagon barrels of 20 and 26 inches with nickeled receivers, end caps and butt plates. Made somewhere around 55,000 so they aren't exactly rare.

It is Hard to know were every one is from ,so as not to offend an good American, I choose my words at times being Canadain . Frank is right . I never have the money when I hear of one or then there is something wrong with it like a chunk out of the stock and the Guy still expects your "first born" to pay for it .
Some of the rifles are sure nice , but I do not care much for the brass or gold flake recievers unless maybe for Cow boy shoots .Fancy wood , Octagon barrel and some ingraving just turns my crank.

Then have you seen the new Winchester 94 from Japan? " Nice" but why not then be built as they were pre 64 or even WW1. Saw a regular 94 from the late twentys and it just made me drool.

That's right it was a 20" , I had one 25 years ago.

Could be a Golden Spike commemorative, those are pretty common.  Nice guns but way too much bling for me.  I've been looking for a Canadian for a while, usually go for more than what I'm willing to pay though.

I have a 26" Canadian with a Williams peep. Muzzle heavy. Very accurate. Not for carrying in the woods. More like screwing around at the range. They come with the black stamped metal lifter if that bothers you. The way I use mine, I never even load the tube. Just plinking with pointy bullets at the range. They are quite common. I have seen up to 10 in stock at Cabelas (online) at any given time. Just search Canadian Centennial.

What you saw was a post-64 Winchester 94 commemorative Rifle, which were made with 26" octagonal barrels. (The Carbine versions had 20" bbls)

There were only three Winchester .30-30 commemoratives, that were made with Gold-plated, or brass-plated, receivers & 26" octagonal bbls.
They were:

1966: Winchester 66 Centennial
1970: Lone Star Commemorative
1970: North West Territories Deluxe (Canadian), w /24" bbl

While many other Model 94 commemoratives also had gold-plated receivers, they all had either 20" barrels, or were not chambered in .30-30.

While many other Model 94 commemoratives also had 26" octagonal barrels, they did not have gold-plated (yellow) receivers.
