Versa range test
« on: June 01, 2010, 01:57:03 PM »
I just took my new versa that I fitted to a frame and boresighted last night out to try.  Set up a target at 50', rested on the truck hood and fired off 5 rounds.  I'm blind, so even with the scope I couldn't see the results in the black target.  Walked over and had a dime size group.  Moved the scope just a click or two, and moved the target out to 50 yards.  Had about a inch group.  I'm a happy camper! ;D  A real shooter could get some groups out of this thing.  I mounted the barrel on the same receiver as my 357 and this will be my go to combo.  Now I need to find a nice case for them! ;D

Good going......I was following a prev thread on multi barrel cases and there were a number of suggestions. I 'need' one too for a .22WMR and Sportster barrel combo. Keep us posted on what you choose.

What did you use for a scope mount? I was thinking of putting a scope on mine but I'd have to remove the rear sight to use the H&R mount. It shoots so well that I'm hesitant to mess with it. What scope did you put on it?
By the way... mine shoots every kind of ammo I've tried very well. They're great little guns.

I bumped the rear sight out and used a Weaver mount.  I picked up a Simmons 22 mag scope from my local dealer, (fixed 4 power), and it's great for this usage, and under $40.00.

I used a lazer boresighter, and luckily got it close enough to hit the black the first few shots, (unusual for me).  That made me think I was not on the paper.

I just got this barrel from Wreckhog on this forum, and if it wasn't brand new it had been kept new.  I'm "tickled pink" with it.

These groups were shot with Eley ammo.  The Remington bulk I have is not as accurate, but is good enough for plinking.  The grandson can do away with ammo in a hurry, even with a single shot.... :o

So far I've not let him near my repeaters...

He doesn't know it yet, but eventually he will get a Marlin I have stuck back for him.  I'm setting up the Handi's for me, all else will go soon to my grandchildren.
