.270 Ultra Comp vs .243 SL

Both shooting Federal factory loads fresh from WalMart. The .270 recoils less and is louder. In both cases significantly. Go Figure. Spent 5 minutes at the range today to figure it out....lol

Yup..The ultra comps work exceedingly well for their intended design.When I was shooting my 30-06UC..I could keep it on the front rest by just having 1 finger just above the barrel when firing.They really do a excellent job of stopping the muzzle climb as well.AFAIK..this was as close to a target type rifle they built in a Handi,while too damn loud for hunting for me,I did enjoy bench shooting with both my 270's and 30-06's...course if anyone else was around..they didn't.. :D :D :D If you are only shooting factory ammo..try some of the Federal Fusion out of it..mine loved the stuff..

The 243 SL's have a nasty sharp recoil... alot more than you'd expect.
I had one for my nephew to shoot and he didn't even make it 10 shots... and he shoots his own 45-70 Handi with Marlin level loads. ;)
After shooting it he told me to get rid of it. :D :o

Yep I traded out the brides 243SL with a 243 Ultra, world of difference and now she likes it.

Those Ultra Comp barrels were great barrels, I kick myself for having to sale mine.... :-\
