I have some 168 grain Bergers VLDH and then some 168 grain and 155 grain SMK and PMK to start..then some TTSX 130 grainers and some 125 grain Sierra PH's for a reduced load and some 168 grain CT SBT after I'm done with the non-coated bullets..For the 243 not so many to start I have..some 70grain Sierra Blitz Kings 95 grain Partitions and 95 grain SBT's for right now..and will try more varmint bullets in it since this is mainly what I am going for with it..

For the o6'..2-3" at 600 yards would be realistic and any thing smaller a added bonus..I'm hoping for smaller groups but for at least those..Also with the added velocity boost of the 26" barre, I'm hoping for 100 to 150 fps faster velocity over the standard velocity without having to take it to the max..but I will see what it's capable of with out pushing it too hard.I'm wanting a consistent 1/2" or smaller 5 shot groups at 100 with the right load for it that will be my hunting load..

For the 243 if all goes well..and I can get the accuracy I got from my first bull barreled 243..then somewhere in the low .2's for it at 100 yards and 3/4"-1.25" at at 300.If for some reason it won't give me that,I might send to Wayne to get re bored..but will cross that bridge later on..

It should be here on the 2nd next month.. ;D ;D ;D

I like the idea of the 26" tube for the 06. The factory should offer it. IMO the 30-06 is the best all around big game cartridge on the market.
You don't hear too much bad about the standard 06... that's why I was asking about them being good shooters. It sounds like you're taking a good thing and making it better. ;D What are the colors you are going with on this one?

I love my 26" 30-06 also, even though it has a bolt handle hanging off the right side and was built by Springfield in 1944.   It goes to the range with my '06 Handi to keep my 45/70s from picking on it.  ;D

Well..the barrel and action Cerrakoke is being done as a 2 tone color scheme, similar to what Wayne is doing for the Lazzoroni rifles he builds out.The stock & forearm will have 3 colors of spider webbing in it..He says it turned out real purdy ..Just have to wait to see it  ;)  (like me :D)

Looking forward to it Mac!! This should be a very good, versatile set-up with the scope you are using.
Should make a fine rifle.

 :D :D :D

Went back to Wally World today,I wanted to pick up one of their little cheap bi-pods to play around with on the varmint forearm. They look ok for what they are asking for the ($38.00 Winchester brand ) and should give me a good idea on what to expect for groups before I do my epoxy-RTV bedding to the forearm.I just have 1 more thing to get for it,but it will have to wait till I get it here and see the colors on the stock.. ;)

Something like this Blackhawk..

Possibly one of these TacOps

I'm leaning towards the later cause it has been highly rated and gives me some extra storage space and the shell holders. It does come in plain black as well. Just waiting on the rifle to make it here so I can decide..

Mac,

How do you plan to attach the bipod to your '06?  Been thinking of how I want to attach a bipod to my 32" barrel without messing with the barrel movement.  I have been thinking of a cantilever arrangement from the receiver, but not sure.

I like #2 in your last post and am curious what type of projectiles are in the 3rd & 4th rounds from the left side of the photo.

thanks

BB:

I have the Varmint forearm for this one now,and plan on using the extra sling stud to attach it to.It already has a sliding cantilever of sorts built in. I may have to drill and tap a different place on it for the sling stud to be at the optimum place for it though. The lock up on this barrel and frame is exceptional so I'm not too worried with anything as yet..I will be putting the RTV bedding to good use with it after I partial fill up some of the spaces in it with epoxy

As too the rounds in the picture...I'm not 100% certain since they aren't mine, but would guess they are some type of Lubalux or moly coated bullet, perhaps a 30 cal Nosler or Sierra ?

Hard to say since the tips are green, but that could be just an optical illusion too since it's next to camo
