I Want to order a 357 but...
« on: May 26, 2010, 01:14:58 PM »
I am on the edge of the seat for sending in my SB-1 reciever for a 357 mag barrel to be fitted up. Then in a pm The janitor was telling me something about the 357 having pierced primer problems of some sort. Can someone comment on this? I dont need anything causing a injury as it will be a youth gun. Also, is the web site for nef barrel program still currant with there prices? I hope they still have open sights to.

I've had my .357 barrel for over ten years, my most used barrel, no trouble.

I have 2 357 factory fitted barrels. No iron sights, scope base drilled and tapped. I am ordering sights that fit the scope base holes and will have the front site holes drilled and tapped.

Ok sounds good, just thought i would check into it before buying one. I noticed on NEF web sight the that it says clean barrels for both the 44 mag and the 357. Did they stop adding iron sights?

Sorry Rayzor didn't mean to steer you wrong- But there is a thread here somewhere where a few were having a problem. I don't have one, but read it here somewhere. Sorry to all that have and love 'em, probably should have just kept my key board to myself. thejanitor
EDIT- http://www.gboreloaded.com/forums/index.php/topic,206806.0.html
They were talking about a .357 max but it also refers to .357 mag (on shotgun frame) Is a SB-1 a shotgun frame? Just passing along what I read. Tonight it is on page 6 if the link doesn't work.

I've had two .357s on SB1 frames with no issues.  When I reamed them to Max, I put them on SB2s.  I think anyone who owns a .357 and doesn't ream it to maxi is missing the boat.  Both of mine shot .38s and .357 mags perfectly and I was reluctant to risk one to the reamer.  Well, that was not a problem at all.  Both handle the .38s and mags the same way after reaming.  I put Allen 9 round buttstock cartridge holders on them, with 3 rounds each, 38, mag and max.  It's like carrying 3 different rifles in the field.  Ya gotta love it :-*
