I own two early 1970's model 700 BDL's and love'em.  Their smoothness is better than the ones today and just as accurate and maybe more.  One is a heavy-barrel 22-250 and it will shoot consistantly in the .3's at a hundred yards for three shots and that is with the only reload I've ever tried in it.  The other is a sporter-barreled 243 and it consistantly shoots under 3/4 an inch at a hundred yards.  Both are worth every penny of a new one.  Wish I could tell you what one is valued at but I can't help out because I have never checked, I never intend of getting rid of either.  If you get a good deal buy it, it'll probably shoot very well, just make sure the bore is still nice and shiney, then adjust the trigger to your liking.     Dave
