New Dick's Store!
« on: April 06, 2010, 07:27:18 AM »
I keep reading about all the great Handi deals Dick's has, was shopping for turkey ammo yesterday over at the Hayden Meadows Fisherman's Marine in Portland, they're right next to the old Joe's store that went out of business last year after 57years in business :'(, on the street in front of the parking lot is a new Dick's sign and the building is under construction putting up a new store front!! 8) There's another Dick's the other side of Portland that was recently opened, but I called there once and was told they don't carry H&Rs, hopefully this one will since the competitor next door does, just not a lot of em, and no good deals!!  :( I checked their website and found three other new Dick's stores in the surrounding area, so I may have to do a little more calling and see if any of them carry the H&R specials, hopefully the closest(3 miles) store will have em tho, no tax over there either, Oregon does charge a $10 NICs fee tho.  :-\

Tim - haven't seen many H&R's at the Dick's stores here in Mid Michigan, but they will have a run of the ultra slug hunters in the fall.  Just not many Handi's in the popular calibers.  They tend to have more of the cheaper quality scoped combos (Remington 770's, Savage 110's, etc.) around here.  Good luck!

The Dicks Store here in northeast Wisconsin have the ambidextrous camo stocked versions on sale for $259 now and have 3 rifles a couple of .308's and one 22-250 in stock at one store. The other I haven't visited yet.

When it is in the flyer, they get them in. How long they last varies.

I found the same thing in AZ, no H&R's, wanted to buy one of the Rossi youth 22/410 combo rifles for a project and they would not sell to me because I was not a resident, walked across the mall to Walmart, they had a big map on the wall with states that they would sell to residents of, mine was listed so I walked out with the combo.  Then I went back to Dicks and got the Rebate form and ended up with the combo for $89.00 as I recall.  It is now a 22 Mag/22 Hornet combo  ;D Larry

I've been to 2 stores here in Florida.  No handis in either one.  I didn't ask about ordering, since neither guy even knew what they were.

Went Dick's in Frisco Texas today and bought a 22-250 camo with scope for $281 drive out. I thought that was a pretty good price. The had several 223, 204, 22-250 & 308. Both camo and wood.

I hope you have better luck than I did at Dick's.  I spent over an hour at the gun counter staring at a rifle I wanted to buy.   Never got to hold it, nor even come close to a purchase.  The young man behind the counter was slow as gramma', waited on a couple people and then went for his "lunch break".  No one else was allowed to touch the firearms.  I had been waiting patiently for about an hour at this time.

My emails to the corp. did not bring satisfaction.  I just don't go there anymore.

I will pay my local guy $50.00 more and get treated like a human.

I had an experience at Dick's when I was actually buying a gun the salesperson had to have a manager double check the paperwork, they paged the manager twice in about 5 minutes only to have him call and say he was on break. I said this is going to make me late for work so page him again and tell him if he doesn't come now they will loose this sale. the salesman did and the manager showed up in less than a minute.

I had a problem before Christmas, I was given some money on a Dick's card to buy what I wanted.  I went to the store in Rockwall, TX.
There was a man and a woman behind the counter and I asked to see a rifle that Academy had on sale.  I asked if they matched prices and was told "NO!"  I said okay and asked to see another rifle, the man went to answer the phone and when he got through, he started waiting on other people.  I finally flagged down the woman and she showed the rifle to me and I was about to buy it, when this guy starts complaining about his manager letting some other employee off on Saturday and Sunday...(it was Sat.) and how he was not going to do anything until 3:00 got here and he went home.  I listened to him keep on griping, finally I just gave the rifle back and left. Not worth it.

Went to Academy, 50 miles further and bought what I wanted at the sale price.  It was worth it.

Ammo prices have always been to high there, the only time I buy ammo there is when it's on sale and I have a coupon.

I wish they'd get one down here.
I visited one up north and really liked the store.

Best prices around on sale items during hunting season. Ie Remington green box 30-30, .270, 308, 30-06, etc. $10-12/box with rebate. I noticed that they got Blazer .22lr at $20/brick. Suddenly all the local gun shops had it in stock a few days later at $26-$30/brick.

I live across the state border(about 5 mi) from a Dicks that have a good selection but won't sell to the untrustworthy residents
from another state. The one in my own state is close to hour away and is just not worth the effort or BS. I will say it is less problem
dealing with and cheaper(transfer & NIC fees) in that state than mine other than Dicks & Sports Authority.   fred

Just bought the camo varmint in 223 there yesterday for $259. Box of 50 Rem FMJ 55gr was $19.99. Not a bad deal in my book.

Gun looks real nice. Scope looks decent (4-12x no name). Base is good. Rings look like a joke.

My local store is always friendly, usually have good deals. You can often find coupons online as well.

Same scope I got with my 308. The eye relief is very short and on mine the windage and elevation adjustments were backwards. I put a Nikon Pro staff 3X9X40 on it.
