the end ?

I once read that when Rome was in the last years well it started to look like it does here . Politicans enitertained to get support and votes . They did this at the expence of other citizens. They tried to get others to fight their wars and the richer a woman the less they wore .
 anyone else ever hear anything like this ?

Yes, Rome did party a lot towards the end.  It had divided into the western empire centered in Rome, and the Eastern (Bysentine sp) empire centered in Constantinople (Modern Istanbul, Turkey).  The eastern empire was stronger.  The barbarian Germanic tribes were being pressured by the Huns and came across the border in the west seeking protection from the Huns.  Rome let them across, and it ended up being an invasion or Goths, Visigoths, Franks, Angles, Saxons, etc, that finally overran the empire.  What about our border.  We are being overran by Mexicans especially in the Southwest.

I been drinkin more the last year or so than before, I think it must have been the 400th lecture from our brand new president, or possibly actually reading some actual legislation from our wonderful Congress. 

At any rate, it makes sense to me....Yes, Rome did party a lot towards the end.

I think better to keep a clear head these days, and use the booze for bartering. I'll do my part to keep my nieghbors from going into DT's. ;D But of course, a little nip with supper makes the food taste better....

There is not enough cocaine in the world to party like the Romans did. If you walk around the sights of Rome, you can join the tours that zip you past the maximum number of paintings in a day or you can find these art students freelancing tours. Go with the second. Lot of detail. Anyway, one memorable item was what appeared to be a giant marble cereal bowl. One of the emperors used it to bathe in the milk of a hundred she asses (female donkey?). Now that is awesome.

Ah, Richard  me  boy! So yer holdin true to yer Irish roots are ye? ;)   Wull dats a fine thing to do.    I only like to party on six days throughout the year me self.  ;D   Dats monDAY, tuesDAY, winzDAY, thursDAY, friDAY, and saturDAY.   :D ;D :)
