My opinion is the cheaper rifles are always in the tried and true great selling calibers . A company can throw these together and sell in large volume .The new super dooper calibers are only must haves for regular gun guys , who would probably by a higher end rifle anyways ;D

the "Designer" rounds get chambered in the more expensive rifles.

however with a savage or stevens you could buy the barrel and swap yours off.
I have it on good authority that the telepromter is writing a stern letter.

You can get a 223 Stevens 200 and swap out to any of the 222 family of 17 or 20 caliber rounds. I had a 223 that I swapped out to 22 BR. New bolt and new barrel and I was in business. If it was a 22-250 the bolt would not have needed swapped out.
