Synthetic Stocks
« on: March 25, 2010, 03:42:42 PM »
This is nothing new and has most likely been mentioned before on GBO or elsewhere.  Just wanted to share it with those shooting muzzle heavy Handis or other synthetic stocked guns.

Filling the stock with socks, rags, great stuff foam (messy), all do a good job of deadening it.  I have even found a single piece of cardboard inside some that I reckoned someone at the factory thought was real helpful.

But, the best thing I have used is an old memory foam pillow.  Cut it into strips and stuff it tightly into the stock.  Was surprised how much material I could get in there once I finished the first gun up.

It will add some weight as well if you are needing it.  It has really helped balancing out the short heavy barreled Handis and Tikka T3 light that I have.  This also works well on the shotguns that I have done.

It also eliminates the sound of that cheap hollow sound in the stock that really gets amplified when shooting.  The shooters on the range with plastic ear muffs against a hollow plastic stock know that sound.  This will get shed of it.  The improvement is noticeable while hunting as well.

I do apologize in advance if this has been mentioned before.  Maybe it will help someone out.
