Crown

I just picked up another Handi as a backup to my first.  The first one had a slight burr or run-out don't know what to call it on the crown.  I used Tim's ball bearing trick to clean it up.  The second Handi has the same thing. You can drag your nail across it on one side and it is smooth on the other.  I had fired several shots on the first gun so it was not gonna get shot away.  It did help once it was knocked down, it evened out the powder ring.

My question is should I go ahead and take care of it now on the new one or go shoot it and see what happens.  My guess is it will leave an irregular ring as well.  It is hard to see but easily felt.  Is this common?  I realize for the price of the gun it is what it is and I am fine with that.  Just wondering if this is a normal occurrence and what is the cause?  I assume it is a machining leftover during the rifling process.

Please excuse my lack of proper terminology.  Really did not know how to describe it better than this.

It never hurts to shoot first before doing anything, but from the sound of it, it won't likely be a good shooter until the crown is cleaned up. It's such a simple process that it could be done at the range even.  ;)
