I heard from a local range owner that the Taurus RB was probably the easiest .454 to shoot, particularly from a recoil standpoint.

I'd be curious to get feedback from you folks on this.  I really like shooting big-bore handguns.  I'm currently nuts over my DW .445SuperMag.  This doesn't mean that I'm energized by copius amounts of recoil, or guns with a harsh 'recoil signature' (like the Ruger SRH!).

Raging Bull 454 casull

I love mine,I shoot 325 gr. swift A-frames through it,I have a 2-8 leupold on it with burris signature rings with a taurus mount.Does pretty good at 100 yds about 4-5" groups.But if you shoot around anything flammable,keep an extinguisher around.

I have shot the Ruger in 454 and I agree that the Taurus is noticeably more comfortable to shoot :grin:

My son has the 454 raging bull. this is a very nice gun and easy to shoot.
I don't have one bad thing to say about it . I think the raging bulls are the
best guns that Taurus makes.

Heard the same thing about the RB. I think it would be easier because of porting and rubber grips.

hey bigdaddyb- havent heard from you in a while!  
 
the bull tames the recoil considerably.  it is really a good design.  the porting keeps it from jumping up and the ridged grip absorbs alot of the recoil.   i would rate my sbh with full power loads as harder to handle.  

lately i have been loading mine to mid-range power levels (300 grain cast bullet @ 1600 fps) and these feel comfortable to shoot.

Dunno where you got the idea that a 300 grain bullet at 1600 fps is a mid range power load. In most books that's pretty darn near max from a revolver.

Yeah I kow folks load HOTTER. MUCH HOTTER. But that don't make it safe or recommended. My personal max load pushes a 318 grain at 1550 fps. If that won't kill it then I have no dang business pointing a handgun at it in the first place.

cant argue with that,  if i would have called it full house, inevitably someone would have taken issue with it.  and,  my powder charge is quite a bit less than book, i am seating the bullet a little deeper to keep load density uniform.
 i know seating bullets deeper raises pressures, hence the reduction in charge.  but velocity is still good, and signs of pressure are none existant.
