might save your life
« on: March 21, 2010, 03:20:17 AM »
anyone who has what they think is gas pains...do you feel full? lose your appetite? tender to press on your upper right bladder area? a little nausea? get your butt to the ER. it might be your appendix... i was hours from mine bursting, and that can cause you to not be alive any longer if you wait too long and the infection gets a head start.

this is a decided negative thing. emergency surgery is nothing ...compared to the possibly deadly outcome. "just a stomach thing" can be pretty dangerous.

i couldn't sleep on tuesday night due to the pain and discomfort and so i went in.

i didn't have the classic symptoms and i wasn't sure what the heck was going on. i hate being in the hospital and it took 2 days before i could get out and i am still recovering. but it was worth it.

and if someone tells you appendicitis hurts like you know what, they ain't lyin' :)

i didn't know i HAD abs until they hurt like this.

i thought i had them sufficiently protected with my beer containment system.

I have already had all those symptoms, and almost died. That was about 45 years ago, and after the surgery I spent 11 days in intensive care, and about 2 months with a drainage tube in my right side. The incision was also left open to heal, and had to be scrubbed every day until it bled. Since everyone in my house at the time was plagued with a weak stomach, and a soft heart I had to do it laying on a bed on plastic sheeting. It just sucked to do that..

Mine had been ruptured for hours before I got to the doctor. I thought I was just sore because a horse had fell on me, but it was more.

Well glad you made it mjb! I can imagine the "after" pain cause i went through open heart surgery in 05. Recovering from that was no picnic either. good luck with the recovery and then you can use the beer containment system again!  ;D

oh well i am way way better off than you were. i mean, i am sore and it hurts to cough. but every day is better and i'm probably 75% back after 4 days. i heal fast but this is a walk in the park compared to heart stuff.

Yea, I had this thing where I would be walking and start coughing and pass out and wake up on the floor, my daughter walked in one day and thought i had bought the farm.  :o  but it gets better!  I am surprised that I did not become a prescription drug addict. did ya get some pain meds?

5th. grade, 1956, Doc was treating me for Stomach Flu. Last I remember was my Dad carrying me down the Hospital corridor. Woke up a week later with tubes coming out of my side. Burst Appendix. I can still smell the Either that was used to knock you out...not a fun time. God speed on your recovery.

i'd rather spend more time 'healing.'

too many toxic personalities at work, and don't get paid worth a damn anyway.
