From quote: I don't recall reading were Jesus ever preached in a church.

He most certainly did, and often.

Matthew Chapter 4 verse 23. And Jesus went about all Galilee, TEACHING IN THEIR SYNAGOGUES (churches), AND PREACHING THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM, and healing in all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
Matthew Chapter 9 verse 35. And JESUS WENT ABOUT "ALL THE CITIES AND VILLAGES" TEACHING IN THEIR SYNAGOGUES (churches), AND "PREACHING THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
Matthew Chapter 12 verse 9. And when He was departed thence, He went into THEIR SYNAGOGUE (church):
Mark Chapter 1 Verse 21. And they went into Capernaum, and straightway ON THE SABBATH DAY HE ENTERED INTO THE SYNAGOGUE (church), AND TAUGHT.
Luke Chapter 4 verse16. And he came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up: and AS HIS CUSTOM WAS, HE WENT INTO THE SYNAGOGUE (church) ON THE SABBATH DAY, AND STOOD UP FOR TO READ
.

And let us not forget Christ's most famous sermon, in Matthew Chapter 5, His SERMON ON THE MOUNT.

He preached against church and preachers every chance he got.  He still is.

Swampy, I won't argue or debate you, but NO, he did not preach against Church. He taught contrary to the Sadducees, and Pharisees, and the Sanhedrin in general, which is to say, he taught against apostasy, but he never in any way taught against the Church, but instead, quite the contrary.

Swampy, I won't argue or debate you, but NO, he did not preach against Church, or Preachers whom taught sound Doctrine. He taught contrary to the Sadducees, and Pharisees, and the Sanhedrin in general, which is to say, he taught against apostasy, but he never in any way taught against the Church, but instead, quite the contrary.

Matthew 23

Jesus didn't come to create a system.  He came to show us a lifestyle.  I never see any positive fruit in the churches.  He said by their fruits you shall know them.  I won't go back.

Evidently Jesus felt the church had a role in Matthew 18. Luke noted that folks were added to it everyday in Acts, that they had two specific offices serving them: servants & elders. Paul went and visited churches, built up church leadership ... seems the Christ is to the church as the husband is to be to his wife. Very very difficult to separate the word ekklesia from biblical teaching on the life of a Christian. Kinda like saying you could be a husband without being married, or a child without parents, brother without siblings ...

But then again what some of y'all are calling church is something different than what's in the Bible. I've been to those things too. Tough bunch. Me? I prefer what the Bible says about it, and make sure I find one every time I move. I have the privilege to preach this Sunday, I feel like Paul must've, I just can't help myself. Little country church lost its pastor, like thousands of other little country churches in the US today, and one of my sailors is a member there, asked me to fill in this week.

If you believe in Heaven, then you know it'll be an eternity of worship with our brothers and sisters in Christ ... sounds a lot like church to me. why wait until then to experience that joy?

Oh I think it's run its course and likely did on the first page tho I've not gotten around to ready much of it. It just reminds me again of why I removed the religious discussion forums. But while they were still up I do recall that Swampman started this church he is now running away from first in his home then found a building to move it into to make it more like a church.

Seems to me he now has run it into the ground and is abandoning what he began. That's no surprise.

But we aren't going to get back into religious discussion on the forums here again. If you are ever face to face with me and wish to discuss religion I'll be happy to take the time and talk with you. I just don't think the impersonal internet is the place to do it tho.
