He was one of my hero's as a kid.  Him and the Lone Ranger.  Feeling kind of old now.

Fess Parker wasn't my hero, but he was an actor that played "the part of" one of my favorite heros.

You were correct slim rem 7

Davy's sidekick,(George Russel) was played by Buddy Ebson.

And, no, my memory isn't that good.

I did find out that a YaHoo search on Davy Crockett gets you 1.870,000 results.  http://www.film.com/tv/davy-crockett/21323050

I remember when Disney came to the Hermitage to film part of the Davy Crockett series.   We went up to watch, but they would not let us close enough to see anything.  But later seeing it on TV I was impressed knowing I had walked the same rooms the real Davy Crockett had walked in, there in the old Hermitage.  At the time was not too impressed with Andrew Jackson, Davy Crockett was the man.

Will always remember Fess Parker's portrayal of Davy Crockett.  Danial Boone was a little after my TV viewing time, I was in the AF by then and did not watch a lot of TV.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Many of us owe thanks to our love of American History to Fess Parker...
He is who has inspired me to give talks to schools and clubs about Colonial
America to young folks...

In a bit of irony...Daniel Boone died at 85...Fess Parker died at 85...

Thanks Fess...We'll see you over the next hill...

It confused me a bit, as a kid, when Fess played both Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett. I soon got over it. I've seen Fess Parker in a lot of other movies ie Westward Ho! The Wagons! Always the same delivery, always the same ethics and morals - stuff a kid could get ahold of and take to heart.

We'll meet again, when my time comes...Go with GOD, Fess Parker, you have earned that.
