Thank you Heather. Education isn't next it is an attachment to this bill. It abolishes private loan programs for higher education leaving only one lender the federal government. Oh except one lender in Sen. Kent Conrads district in North Dakota. Elementry and secondary education no doubt is next.

Heather, you're right ... education is next.

If Obamacare passes then the first stabs at education will already be law.  For some reason in the Health care bill are new laws on education.  I am still in the process of reading so when I get to the new education laws I will post them here.  If anyone else has already ran across that section I would love a reference point.

I don't have a reference point just repeating what was an item on the news today. But we already knew they were going to eventually do it because they've hinted at it for over a year now. They want our college kids to do government service in return for their full ride. Can hardly wait to see what service our kids will have to perform. Steve

Obama has said he wants to reform education next, revamp no child left behind, and readdress the whole department of education. Some of the teachers unions have already made some statements this week in anticipation of changes, but they're lost in the HC coverage.

I'm concerned that homeschool might be targeted, as well as non-government funded private schools. Perhaps that will be additional responsibilities for the 16000 new IRS enforcers already added to ensure we're all toeing the line with HC.

Read " The Law" by Jean Baptiste.  It is called plunder when the government takes from me to give to someone else.

Walter Williams uses the term often.

If someone did it to me, He would be a criminal.  Is it okay for the governemtn to do it?

Hey, why start with health-care as a basic right?  Isn't food, drink and a roof over your head even more basic?  I've never seen anything in writing that said those things are a basic right.

I think you have a basic right to get off your lazy butt and get educated, learn to make a living and buy, or produce what you think are your basic needs.  Those who for whatever reason are just unable to fend for themselves are already very well covered with our present safety nets.

I don't think anyone deserves anything except "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happyness."  If you can't afford it do without.
