I put in for my Deer tags yesterday.
Wish me and my friend Chad luck in drawing a General Deer tag.
General Deer Tag sounds like something on a Chinese Menue.   ;D

Good luck to you and Chad. Here in Indiana your regular hunting license entitles you to a buck and you can just buy a doe permit. Depending on where you are going to hunt, each county here is different. The anterless deer Quota differs from county to county it ranges from 1 to 8. Most counties are 4 or less but some are up to 8 if you want to buy that many permits. You can hunt anywhere in the state, you don`t have to draw or buy a license for for a specific area.
I miss hunting in the North West, actually I just miss N.W. I was born and raised about 70 miles north of Spokane, in Colville. I`ve been gone from there about 30 yrs and I still miss home. I`ve got to say though I was back there about 5 yrs ago and I was shocked at what has happened to the state. The California crowd and the ultra liberal masses have moved in an have totally screwed things up. I still have relatives that live in N.E.Wa. and they and most of the rest of the people east of the cascades would like to split the state into 2 states. I can`t say that I blame them. You guys in Montana need to put up a big fence along your western and part of your southern borders and keep out all the riff raff out. Give everyone wanting to move to Montana some kinda citizenship test along with their application for residencie. The first sign of being some kinda tree hugger or animal rights activist, boot there butts out of the country...   Gary in Indiana

It could be just a few question test.
1)If you are having a problem, who is best to fix that Problem
A- The Government
B- Private Industry
C- The local Police or the Union
D- Well Placed Hunk of Lead.

2) The second Amendment give ____ the right to have firearms.
A) the government
B) the people
C) Only the elites and criminals
D) groups

3) lowering taxes will.
A) Take away the government's resources to provide the people with more services and  not control how people act.
B) Lower prices, raise tax income, and lower the unemployment rate while increasing wages.
C) The rich need to pay their fair share.
D) personal taxes are unconstitutional.

4) If some one lets you out of a parking lot or into your lane you should...
A)Assume the world revolves around you and they are subserviant to you.
B)Wave and yell thank you
C) That never happens
D) We don't allow cars on the compound.

5) the outdoors and national parks are.
A) there for no one to enjoy except the sierra club to use as fund raisers.
B) there for everyone to use in a safe and sane mannor.
C) Should be closed to everyone except me, so I can go pet the bears and dance with the wolves
D) great places to hide from the FBI

Now if you answered A to all the questions You are a pinko commie bed wetter and need to live in and never leave a 3 mile radius of holly wood only.
If you answered B to all the questions you are welcome to live where you want and have and raise children.
If you answered C to all the questions you need to move to Chicago or Boston and be sterilized.
If you answered D to all of the questions - I did not think they had internet on the compound.  Don't worry the FBI and the Black helicopters know who you are.
If your answers are a combination of A and C then you are limited to the San Francisco area only and have Nancy Pelosi as you leader in the new Bay area socialist state.- Children are not allowed.

I think A is a better answer!  I don't need more government service and damn sure don't need the government to control me!

Agreed, But I wrote that after an arguement I had here in CA with some bimbo (am I allowed to use that term here?) who thought the whole reason government exists is to transfer wealth in the form of taxes, services, and regulation.

Finally got the reg books and apps for deer, elk and antelope.  Not sure where they are coming up with the number af tags for certain areas, some of them don't make much sense.  At one time I counted over 90 head of deer from the porch of my cabin right after deer season closed last year, now looks like I can get 1 mule deer B tag for the area ???.  DP

Olydraft, Double D, it was an epic journey.
I left Indiana at the onset of winter, swam a great lake, and went west across Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, got trucked thru the great southern fence in Montana then south thru Idaho, Utah and into Arizona at last.  I made most of the trip from Montana on, in a refrigerator semi trailor (warmest place i could find).  When I got here to Arizona they thought I was a corpscycle and tried to cremate me.  They placed fresh coke around me for three days until the room warmed up enough to light the gas a little over a day after that I unfroze enough to set up.  Worth it though, as soon as I could move my fingers I signed the CCW and hunting liscense they had ready for me.

PS Is Olydraft a kind of beer ?  Is Double D a binary solution set?

Apoligies for my prevarication.  It sort of just came over me.  I spent time with a green suit and a rifle in Berlin.  People there were always trying to get out.  Any one wanted into East Berlin, we just let walk through Checkpoint Charlie or for less than a dollar they could take the SBAHN, either way no biggie.

blindhari

Olydraft      could have meant Olympia beer ?
Double D    could have been a garmet size ?

No negatives intended, I just got lost in whimsy.  At my age that is incresingly an occurance

I may go out and scout Gophers this afternoon.

I tend to not bother the gophers much earlier than this as its just the breeders running around right now.  Kill one now and that equates to 100 not available to me in a few weeks!  The Canadians in Quebec had a term for for it, escapement season.

Might have a different attitude about it if I were farmer, but I'm not, I'm a varminter.

:D DoubleD. What do you shoot your gophers with...I usually use my .22 rifles, but since the p. dog shooting has dried up, I have thought of using the .223...I usually shoot gophers as soon as they emerge from the dens...but only on certain ranches...one that I have left has the walking sprinklers...not flood irrigation...he usually has thousands of gophers, and he wants them gone...I really cannot blame him...by the end of May gophers will be hopping every where...once the grass gets a bit high, they are safe, and they are safe in the hay once it gets a few inches tall...so there I work them over pretty good, but other places, I don't shoot until the little ones are out...I try to never shoot p. dogs until Memorial Day when the pups are out and feeding on grass....

The wife has a 10-22 with 10 spare 10 round magazines...the big magazines are useless in the gopher patch.  She went through 2000 rounds.

I use a modified BSA1215 in 17 Hornady Mach 2.  I fired 3500 round last year at some where around 70-80 % hit ratio.

Double D, put that snow up in the mountains where it belongs.  Yesterday was pretty wet and cold here in Billings.  31 degrees and sleet on the ground when I left for work at 7 and a pretty noisy thunderstorm during the night.  Kinda thought that strange, pretty chilly for a thunderstorm.  Cleared up today and got pretty nice but windy as he!!.  DP
