census
« on: March 16, 2010, 08:17:03 AM »
I received my census today. I can find nothing on there that is really out of line. Looks like the things i have been reading on line about them is nothing but BS.

I got a six page questionare.  Those things they are asking are none of their business.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Like Heather said Question one is the only one authorized by the constitution.

Do I sound synical when I say I got mine was offended that they ask if I am hispanic and then later ask my race?
Why do they not ask Are you a US citizen-  then later ask race (that I thought was illegal to ask)  Are we not all created equal?
Also with the 10 other slips do I write Void on them so some group like ACORN (from the small acorn the mighty fraud grows?)
or LA RAZA does not get them from the census and fill them out to make the minority groups larger than they are?

Sourdough. Could you please tell me what is on there that you object to? ???.  The only thing that pertains to me is on the first page. I really don't have a problem with telling them
if i am white , black, purple or green.

They probably want to know which minoritys are increasing in what numbers, and where. I think I'll do as Rush Limbaugh mentions last week on his show. Mark the box that says other, then write down American in the box marked print race. Then I'll do as Mcwoodduck mentioned, and mark the rest void. gypsyman

I just got mine today.  Filled it out while waiting for the wife to get ready.  Finished in about five minutes.  I too thought they were going to ask a lot of personal questions.  Pretty straight forward.  They did however seem to want to know exactly what kind of Hispanic you were, if you were one.

OK seems I heard that there are some census forms that were more detailed but were sent out randomly. Could this be why some are concerned or am I dreaming about that?  ???

A local radio talk show host interviewed the person in charge of the Alaska portion on the Census.  She said if we answered the first question, that would be the end of it.  No one would come out and ask any farther questions.  If we did not return the form then someone would come out.

Some of the questions they ask are:  What is your telephone number?  What is your birthday?  What is your age?  Are you Hispanic?  What is your race?  Do you sometimes live somewhere else?  How is person Number 2 related to person number one?  Then all the same questions for person number 2, then person number 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12.  Personally I do not feel this is any of their business.  Especially my phone number and birthday.

Of course like all things that come from the government, there is the threat.  In this case there is the possibility of a $5,000 fine if you do not answer to the best of your ability.  It may be a hollow threat, but just consider who is in charge this time.

I understand that this info they already know. Not much on there that wasn't asked when i applied for Social Security. I now live in town and a lot of things i am told i have to do i don't bother to do. I don't consider myself a sheeple either. The local cop tells me i dance to the beat of a different drummer. What ever that means. ???. My dad use to tell me i defied authority and have since i was 14 years old.

I got 2 census forms in 2 different envelopes. They are identical except for the last 2 digits on the barcode that shows in the return address window. I filled one out. Marked the other one as "duplicate" and put it's barcode in the return window. Both are in one envelope. The note is not visible through the window.

If they arrest me I will wink, wave and say I am eddiegjr when on camers.   ;)

I bet this endevor will be as exact as most other "gubment" projects.

Last time I checked other and wrote "american". Some old lady from the census department called 5 times and kept stating it was an improper answer. She said she wanted to come to my house to "check it out". I told her I have a big ugly junk yard dog in the front yard and she can come at her own peril. She finally gave up.

I am kind of disappointed that they did not want to know if I was a citizen or not. Seems to me that being a LEGAL, tax-paying citizen would be more important than race.  After all, this is the melting pot, or something like that.  I always kind of figured that they use the race info to stereotype and actually racially segregate areas by means of a head count.  So much for racial equality and desegregation.

Glad I got the short form!

I am thinking about putting mine down as being 95 years old with 6 swiss girls living with me all right around the age of 23.  Let their imagination fill out the rest...

I understand this info is used to decide where MY money is redistributed through govt. run programs and stuff, but it sure seems pushy for them to threaten me with a fine if I don't fill this out so that they can figure out who they are going to give my money to.

On mine there is a question asking if there is a mortgage on my house or if it is owned outright. How is that any of the government's business. I am tempted to answer question 1 and answer the rest with "What difference does it make."

I am NOT telling them if I own my house outright or not. The way I see it that is absolutely none of their business and is between me and the bank or not.

What will they do if I tell them I own outright? Come in and throw me out and move in a bunch of "lesser privledged" folks?

When they call, which they will because I didn't answer the race stuff or the household income stuff, I am going to state the following.

My ancestry orginates from the region around the Tigris and Euphrates thousands of years ago.  So, I guess that I'm middle eastern.

Looks like you folks got a different form than i did. Not one thing on mine about income. Talked to a couple of friends of mine today. They both said the same thing. Nothing about household income. On the news this morning they said there is a lot of phony ones being sent out.   Sure you didn't get one of them?
