Historic WWII Footage of Japanese Surrender
« on: March 13, 2010, 09:32:33 AM »
Historical Footage: Japanese Surrender Signing Aboard Battleship Missouri Sunday Sept. 2, 1945.
An important piece of history. Most people have seen still photos of the event but haven't seen the newsreel of it.
A film of the actual ceremony of the Japanese signing their surrender ending the second world war. General Douglas MacArthur was the supreme commander of our armed forces in charge of the signing ceremony.

Thanks for posting that. I downloaded a copy for myself. I couldn't help but notice they referred to 'our' side, as the United Nations Forces. I wonder how many GIs thought they were fighting for the United Nations?

Yes its good to see the good old days, We are loosing and have lost many of the men responsible for that victory. Like my Dad!  As well as the ones who were not able to live to see that day.

Thanks for the post and Thanks to all those that served and still do!   I miss you Dad!

Not sure where you were going with that post. Sure hope it wasnt a dig at the Veterans that fought a died to make sure you still have the freedom of speech to make it. Why bring Bush into this thread, you a member of the obama administration?
