I'm beat
« on: March 11, 2010, 02:29:17 PM »
I've been working 16 hour days all week, only 10 today.

I am torn up.

To think I worked two full time jobs for 6 months, I don't know how I did it.

Oh yeah, I was only 24 at the time. ::)

Sounds like you are in for some much needed R&R!  Be thankful you still have a job and remember what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger.  If you keep it up you will be even stronger than before...oh wait.....ummm...or dead!  ;)  J/k

Get out the fishin pole or the plinker and get some creek/woods time. You sure deserve it. Not a day goes by that I don't thank thank the good Lord for my job. Luckydawg, I'm a night mole too. I really like the crew that works it, otherwise I'd be  miserable. We take turns bringing in cassaroles and pizza to make things more comfy..

As a result of our losses during Hurricane Carla I had to work two jobs to provide for my family and help get back on our feet.  I was in the military at the time stationed at Matagorda Island, I caught a boat every morning at 7am for the hour ride to the island, I put my day in, caught the boat back to the mainland, then drove about 60 miles to my part time job starting at 6 pm until 2 AM, then home for a few hours sleep, up the next morning at 5am, shower, shave get dressed and drive the 60 miles back to the boat landing fro the ride to work.  It was a good thing that I could get an hour sleep each way or I would have never made it.  I did this for almost two years but managed to get everything paid off and replace those things claimed by the storm.

A mans gotta do what a mans do to provide for his family. (At least that is what most from my generation thinks!) ::) ::) ::)

that's the truth. Works been real spotty lately so I gotta take it when I can get it. I'm off until Tuesday night at 5, probably work until 11 and start on the long days again until the booth is down.

It is hard while it's going on but I just deal with it and catch up on some ret when it slows down.

The money is pretty good too. That helps with the motivation.

Here's the booth we set up at the housewares show in McCormick place, Chicago.

When we built it, we ran double shifts. 20 guys per shift, 12 hours a day, seven days a week for two months.

Got rid of a couple of slackers this year and shaved almost 200 man hours off the set up.

It's amazing still to me. All this time and money to set up a booth this big (50' x 105') and it'll be up for three days during the show and it all comes down again.

Then again they own a lot of companies along with being associated with Rachael Ray, Paula Deen, The Biggest Loser on top of all the brand names they own, Kitchebaid, Farberware, Circulon and a lot of others.

No wonder you was tired, a two story "Booth". I'd hate to see your deer stand!   ;D

Holy mackerel. Now that's a trade show "booth."

And I thought I had it bad to have to set up my Wife's folding tables and canopy at arts & craft shows for a weekend.

Very nice job and lots of man hrs for sure. Bad part about being (beat) is having to take one of a couple days off just to recoup, neglecting some of the domestic chores that you wanted to get done.

That is a piece of art, very nice work Jim.  Yep as far as work grandpa used to say make the hay while the sun shines.  My job went away 12/30 and I am starting to get antsy. The phone company shut the doors on our garage. Take a break Jim you deserve it after that project and may you have alot more to do.  Boon

I had my weekend to rest. I'm back tonight (5-11) to start the teardown and finish before the end of the week so it's a lot of hours again this week.
