Dear Matt,

Our battle to Audit the Fed has reached a crisis, and your Fed-loving Senator, Richard Shelby, is leading the opposition.

Right now, he’s working with Bob Corker (R-TN), Judd Gregg (R-NH) and Chris Dodd (D-CT) to strip Audit the Fed from the Financial Reform Bill and actually EXPAND the Fed’s power over banks, lending and money.

I need you to contact Richard Shelby today with an urgent message:  Audit the Fed and STOP trying to increase the Fed's power!

As you know, Audit the Fed is currently in H.R. 4173, a financial “reform” package that has passed the House.

The Senate will unveil its version soon, which means you and I have to work fast.

In addition to stripping out transparency and accountability, the Senate version is set to grant the Fed broad NEW powers over our economy by putting the Consumer Financial Protection Agency under the Fed’s purview.

Seriously?  The same Fed that won’t tell us where our trillions of dollars went is going to be put in charge of “consumer protection?”

It would be funny if it weren’t so dangerous.

You and I must turn up the heat on Senator Shelby TODAY.

Please contact him at (202) 224-5744 at once!

Of course, as you know, over two thirds of the House of Representatives, almost a third of the Senate and nearly 80% of the American people support a FULL Audit of the Federal Reserve.

So the establishment has no choice but to attempt to fight us in secret.

That’s why they’re trying every trick in the book to make sure they kill a full-scale Audit of the Fed.

And that’s why it has never been more important that you call Senator Shelby at (202) 224-5744 and DEMAND he CEASE AND DESIST any effort to strip the bill of the Audit or grant the Fed more power under the guise of so-called “reform.”

It’s clear that passage of this bill would pretty much guarantee that the Fed is never audited, allowing the banksters to continue to rob and loot the American people.

And this sounds like something taken directly out of the Ben Bernanke playbook.

You see, Ben Bernanke and his buddies have been claiming the need for Fed “independence” for some time now.

But what they’re really talking about is independence from accountability...

...Independence to keep printing money out of thin air without any oversight from the American people, further destroying our savings and wiping out the middle class.

That’s why it’s vital you take action IMMEDIATELY.

Please call Senator Shelby at (202) 224-5744 and demand that he stand with the nearly 80% of Americans who support a FULL audit of the Federal Reserve.

You and I are now very close to allowing the American people to have the first ever COMPLETE audit of the Federal Reserve, and without your efforts, Ben Bernanke and his cronies would have nothing to worry about.

But I’m afraid if you and I don’t act right away, all of our efforts up until now will be rendered useless.

And that’s something I’m not going to sit idly by and allow to happen.

If we’re going to stop this attempt to gut Audit the Fed, we must act before it’s too late.

So please, right now, call Senator Shelby at (202) 224-5744 and demand he support a FULL audit of the Fed and OPPOSE all attempts to broaden the Fed’s power.

And if you can, please make your most generous contribution to help Campaign for Liberty alert millions of Americans to this battle.

But most importantly, please contact Senator Shelby TODAY.

Sincerely,

John Tate
President

P.S. Fed-loving Senators are working behind closed doors to strip Audit the Fed out of the Financial Reform Bill while granting the Fed even more power.

And your Senator, Richard Shelby, is leading the charge.

That’s why it’s vital you IMMEDIATELY call Senator Shelby at (202) 224-5744 and demand he CEASE and DESIST in his efforts to strip the bill of the Audit or grant the Fed more power under the guise of so-called “reform.”

It should not come as a surprise that Shelby is opposed to auditing the fed.  The banks that Shelby takes money from are opposed to any audit of the fed.  An audit of the fed would bring into the light of day the corruption the fed and the banks have been getting away with for decades.  Shelby is a crook like the rest of the political criminals in DC.

No need to worry about all the money in "donations".  The Supreme Court has said that this was free speech and we need not concern.  Like many have posted on this forum that big money is nothing but a group of people with a voice and has been approved by the courts.  So, let us all rejoice over these "peoples" right to free speech!!!

Shelby is just doing what the “people” want.

Would Shelby's gofer lie to yoiu?  Most likely she did lie.  I would rather believe Ron Paul when he says that US senators Grassley and Shelby are out to gut any bill that would require an audit of the fed.  Ron Paul says that voters should throw Shelby out of office.

Quote
Voters would do well to remember Senator Grassley and Shelby as people who do not support oversight or transparency into the monetary system of the United States. These Senators have abdicated their responsibility to the people and should immediately step down.

Claims for Federal Reserve Bank independence from politics are political distortions. The regional private banks appoint the governors of the Fed, and therefore have a private interest in the policy set forth. The President appoints the head of the Fed, so therefore it must be accountable to the people. The American people are not stupid, and during these times of financial crisis when all Americans are forced to report every penny they come in contact with their entire lives, the Federal Reserve must submit to the same scrutiny.

It’s time to audit the fed, and for people from all parties and all ideological backgrounds who support openness and sunshine into government policy to support the audit. This isn’t a libertarian issue; even the principled left supports these actions. Everyone who is on the other side of the fence on this issue only has something to hide.

So much for the newfound "conservatism" of the Republican party. This just proves that when it comes time to make "tough decisions" or doing thing that are good for the COUNTRY instead of good for THEMSELVES, these so called "conservatives" a simply incapable of doing what needs to be done.

If either one of those senators are YOURS, I strongly encourage you to vote them out of office. Neither are conservatives.

From my perspective I'd just as soon see big corporations have a say as big unions. They have had input for years and look what it got us! Union dues have been used for political purposes for a long time. What do corporations have to gain by not auditing the fed?

The Fed is a big corporation that's been running politics for years now, with no fiscal accountability. Its way past time for an audit.

Dunno the truth of what Shelby's stance is but throwing him outta office ain't happening until he is ready to retire. I think he has the largest campaign chest of all folks in Congress. He could likely run campaigns for the rest of his life time on money in it now without ever taking another dime.

BUT ya know the way they have the laws written when he does leave office all that money is his to do with as he pleases. I think last I heard he had well over $100 million stashed away in campaign funds.

He really has been a for the most part conservative Senator who has done a lot of good things. He doesn't always do as I'd like but he sure does the vast majority of times. When folks back home raise an uproar he pretty much never goes against what they tell him they want.

Ain't no way he will be voted out of office no matter who wishes it would happen.

Dear Matt:

Your phone calls to Senator Shelby are working –- for now.

In response to Alabamans like you putting him on the hot seat, Senator Shelby backpedalled on collaborating with Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) to rewrite the Financial Services Reform bill to strip Audit the Fed and EXPAND the Fed’s powers.

His staff assured callers he’s “doing nothing of the sort.”

They even said they would send a statement to that effect.

One day later, here’s what we got: a one paragraph statement announcing Senator Shelby remains “open to finding common ground with Chairman Dodd ... an agreement is still very possible.”

Well, thanks for nothing.

That’s why it’s important you call Senator Shelby again at (202) 224-5744 or click here to email him.

Tell him exactly what you expect him to do now to put himself on the side of freedom and the Constitution:
1.   Make every effort to KILL the Dodd Financial Services Reform Bill outright.
2.   Immediately sign on as a cosponsor of the Audit the Fed Bill, S. 604.
3.   Move for an immediate, standalone, up or down vote on Audit the Fed.
So please, call Senator Shelby at (202) 224-5744 or click here to email him right now!

In addition to stripping out Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed language, reports are the Dodd Financial Services Reform Bill is set to grant the Fed broad NEW regulatory power over banks, lending, and money.

That’s why you and I must turn up the heat on Senator Shelby by contacting him TODAY.

Remember, Senator Shelby was responsible for killing a thorough Fed Audit before.

Last year, Senator Chuck Grassley had a bill which included a GAO audit of the assets bought up in the bank bailouts.

That is, until Senator Shelby got a hold of it. So we know he’s done this sort of thing before (see the article here).

That’s why you must act now to demand Senator Shelby take THREE clear steps:
1.   Come out in PUBLIC OPPOSITION to the Dodd bill.
2.   Formally cosponsor S. 604, the Audit the Fed Bill.
3.   Move for an immediate up or down, roll call vote on S. 604.
Thank you for all you do in defense of freedom.

Please, call (202) 224-5744 or email Senator Shelby today.

In Liberty,

John Tate
President

P.S. Until you put him on the hot seat, your senator, Richard Shelby, was working behind the scenes with Senator Dodd (D-CT) to write a new Financial Services Reform bill that reportedly would strip out Audit the Fed and actually grant the Fed MORE power.

Please call Senator Shelby at (202) 224-5744 (or click here to email) and insist he cosponsor S. 604 and OPPOSE any legislation to increase the Fed’s power, especially the Dodd Financial Services Reform bill.

If they push the audit far enough it might be possible to get into the Securities Exchange Commission actions and uncover wheather or not "short selling combined with insider tradeing" had anything to do with the stock market crashes of the last 2 decades.

The guy that turned in Berney Madolf for his ponzie scheem said the SEC and the FED in general doesn't have enough "education or intellignnce" to figure anything out much less have the manpower to cover and look at what is needed.

The Fed audit may have as much to do with why congress wants the "Homeland Security Laws" extended as terrorism does? Far fetched but plausible in the annals of history.

While I don't see anything wrong with more transparency at the Federal Reserve Bank, I also don't see this matter as a big deal.  The Fed has very limited tools today.  Look at where we are right now with interest rates at essentially zero (that is, a risk free borrower can find money to borrow at zero percent, and all the interest rate on any loan reflects risk and none of the other components of interest rates), yet the recession persists and the Fed cannot do anything about it.  One reason the Fed has limited tools is that so many dollars are held outside the US.  Another reason is that so much US government debt is held by foreigners, especially the Chinese government of course.  The Fed can no longer get us into and out of recessions in the way that it could during the Reagan era (for instance).

None of the institutions we have know how to operate in this new US economy.  We are banishing our natural resource production and manufacturing to overseas and replacing it with government and health care.  Go to any major US city and the largest employers tend to be health care and government.  Soon that will be true for every state if it is not already the case.  Last night on television, watching NBC, some of the commercial breaks had only government ads e.g. don't smoke, be nice to each other, etc.  Because of demographics (everyone wanting to be retired), the loss of high wage blue-collar jobs, and outsourcing production of more and more of what we consume every day the US government doesn't have the tools to control the US economy that it had only a short time ago.  Spending on foreign wars, illegal immigration, and other factors have contributed.   I have no idea where it all ends but it might not be good.
