« on: February 27, 2010, 10:58:00 PM »
I was looking athe the Accessory Barrel List... not to throw a panic, but first time I have seen then list them not available at this time or NO longer available. Not sure if its good or bad?

If it is an attempt to keep the list up to date as to what is in stock, then I think it's a great idea and applaud the effort. On the other hand if they are just saying those barrels will no longer be sold as an accessory, like the .45 Colt barrel, then they might just as well delete them from the list. http://www.hr1871.com/Support/accessoryProgram.asp

Actually none of the barrels are available right now as reported by more than one person who has called H&R on barrel availability, they were told barrels won't be available until the end of March or April. My best guess is it's an attempt to reduce their inventory levels to a minimum for tax purposes, that's for Remington, Marlin and H&R.  Marlin makes H&R's barrels, when I had an H&R contact in December, he could not get a barrel production schedule from Marlin, best he could get was a tentative first quarter 2010 and it looks like it will be the end of the first quarter before any are made.  :-\

As for the 45 Colt Carbine, it's listed in the 2010 catalog, so I suspect it will be available as an accessory barrel again......eventually.

Surprisingly right now they are THE most available rifle they make and at the best price. At $296 out the door, including tax, transfer and background check, this is a real bargain.

I suspect Davidson's placed a special order for them, and apparently got a good deal to be able to sell them at such a discount.

Wish they would do more of that!
