Trigger pull
« on: February 27, 2010, 08:25:16 AM »
I have a Handi in 22 Hornet which I love. But was never happy with the trigger. I installed an "EZ Trigger Pull Assist". I am really happy with this device. My trigger pull was 5 pounds 12 oz before and now it is 2 pounds even. I did try the trigger work jobs that I learned about on this forum. But in spite of the good advice to not to hone off too much I over did it and ended up buying a new hammer.(only about nine bucks so no big deal). Just thought others may want to try this Trigger Assist as an option. I will be buying more for other guns.
Since I am on here I want to thank Quickdtoo (and others on here) for helping so many people. Thanks Whitetail1

Here tis DP, it's been discussed several times before, but IMO, a gunsmith will do a trigger job for that much money and you'll have more room in the trigger guard for a gloved finger, but home trigger jobs are just too easy to do for me.  ;)

I have one on my 25-06 and love it.  I like that trigger better than my Contender and feel that I have more control over it.  Everytime I hand my contender to someone and tell them to try the trigger, all they can do afterwards is grin and marvel.  So saying I like my ez-pull better is saying alot.

Whitetail...do you have the new type with the set screws in the bottom or the old with the screws in the sides?

I have the one with the set screws on the bottom. I did not have to modify my trigger guard either. It is not quite centered on the trigger but it is fully engaged on the trigger so I am happy with it. I know that it will not be great with gloves on but I seldom shoot with gloves anyway. I think  I will be happy with it. Having a gunsmith do a trigger job is ok it you have one you like. The only one around here that I know about charged me 120 dollars just to clean a gun. So I am happy with this. It wouldn't suit everybody but I think many like me would find it a good alternative. Whitetail1

Looks like it may not work on the handis.  I had mine at the range today.  The trigger assist caused it to misfire everytime.  Once I took it off, the gun worked fine.  YMMV

Trigger assist range report. Went to the range today and my hornet will not fire with the "trigger assist". It just puts a faint dent in the primer. Took it off and gun fires normal. So I guess I will use it on another  brand of gun that has a terrible trigger. (several Rugers and Remingtons that I have) Now that that experiment I is behind me I WILL learn to do a trigger job on my Handi Rifle!! Whitetail1

I had the same exact experience.  You just described it better.  Thanks.
