OK...Is anyone shooting one of the fluted 243
« on: February 22, 2010, 06:11:04 PM »
Just curious..

How's the twist rate on them...? Anyone check and make sure they are a 1 n 10?

How is the accuracy with them..and of course with what loads.. I had a great bull barrel once..and let it slip away to Ohio..and I am thinking about getting one of these fluted ones to play around with....

Thanks

Mac

If they shoot anything like the standard 243 that I had did they are great.

I thank God everyday for my loving wife and all the fond memories of hunting with my Papa from a child until now.

Please take time to take a kid hunting, it will be a life long memory and blessing for both of you!

Strange ???

194 views and no-one has one of these that wants to comment ? Are they that bad... or that new that no-one has got one.Perhaps no-one likes the 243 fluted barrels..If so that makes me want get one even more now.. :D

Mac

PS..I changed the title of the thread to reflect this.. ;)

Maybe you need to change the title again to something that has the caliber, barrel and who shoots it? May eleminate window shoppers/curriosity readers and maybe target your audience of information. Or start a new thread with that title. JMHO, good luck, eddie

I just added number 244 to the number of views and now I feel somewhat ashamed for not having one.  ;)

I've never seen one Mac .I know they made them...but when I found the SS one I got it and forgot about the fluted. I do like the fluted 223 and the 204 that i have though. kurt

I used to have one and kinda miss it from time to time. It seemed to shoot 95 grain Hornady SSTs and 55 grain Nosler ballistic tips equally well. I mainly used the 55 grain pills, reducing the vermin population at my uncle's farm. The barrel would heat up and start stringing shots just like all the others, the flutes are mainly cosmetic as the weight savings and increased surface area for cooling don't add up to much in the grand scheme of things. Take your time shooting and she would reward you with some nice groups. I also liked the 24" barrel vs the 22" barrel.

Thanks Mitch

I know the flutes are more for looks..and..they sure do look nice..Nice to know they are doing well with some light ones and heavier ones too..
