T-3

Ok, I've been following the posts on the Tikka's and was somewhat surprised with the negative comments on the T-3. I just picked one today in 300 WSM and it has features that I find interesting. Most folks didn't like the polymer magazine or trigger guard. I feel the opposite. I want to keep weight down and polymer technology is just the ticket. Corrosion becomes non issue as well. I guess if polymer technology is good enough for Glock, it should be good enough for mid range priced rifle. Trigger is much better than any Remington I have ever owned, in fact, I always replaced them with Timneys (another $80 bucks please). I expect to get to range within week to see if it is as good as advertised. Comments on whether it is a cheapened WH is kind of like saying an ADL is not the same as a BDL. I was going to buy a WH Deluxe in 300WM but the action was not as smooth as the T-3 that I eventually picked up. Is it a Sendero? No, but I didn't expect a rifle in this price range to be so. I wanted a light weight rifle that shoots and has decent trigger. I think it will do the job much better than a comparatively priced ADL. Plus, if the airlines decide to rearrange it it won't be as painful. Put it in perspective, it is suppose to be competitive to ADL type rifles and I think it does that nicely. Will post up results when I can.

As I've stated before---I also feel the T3 is an improvement over the WH-----for me being lightweight is a high priority----the T3 comes close to being as light as the custom ultra-lites ---costing thousands of dollars.

The T3 is simply the best hunting tool value out there---at any price.

If I wanted all-steel and pretty wood----I'd be looking at Sauer---Cooper---Dakota or something along those lines------my rifles see tough use while hunting-----and I'd rather be hunting than baby-ing my pretty safe queen.

So what's the big gripe with the T3? I've been thinking about one also.

Muddy Boots,

I find that I like my Tikka T3 7mm-08 stainless Synthetic more and more. It is sort of and odd looking rifle or should I say different than the American mades that we are programed to accept.  I just think about what you get for your money: adjustable trigger, drop mag., slick @$$ action, light weight(7.4lbs scope and all), a great caliber selection for around $500.00. Not only that, but when you go to the bench and able to shoot tight groups, gain confidence in your rifle, usually means killing what you shoot at.

I do not regret buying the T3 and feel most people will be satisfied with it. I only look forward to Saturday when I see a deer in the the crosshairs of my new T3, chances are that the deer will be as dead as if I shot it with a Blaser, Weatherby, or Sako.

I just think a little more time is necessary for the T3 to obtain its own following. I do not need another rifle, but have been fighting off the urge not to buy another T3 in the neck shooting caliber of 22-250 or .243.
