I live in CT and just got access to hunt in upstate NY next season.  I have an Encore and a Contender both rifles/carbines. In CT, because of the potential to convert a T/C Contender or Encore from long gun to handgun, they are registered. Long guns are not normally registered to purchasers in CT,  only handguns, and dealers will not sell one of those to a buyer who does not have a pistol permit.

If an Encore or Contender is originally configured as a long gun, and remains so, is it a problem to use it in NY as long as all other requirements/restrictions are met for the location/game/caliber?

Zero issues with Encore rifles.  Don't see many Contender or G2 carbines.

Thanks, wreckhog.   I did not think that an Encore originally configured as a rifle, and KEPT that way should be a problem, but one never knows.

Bubba, it's in Cherry Valley. I have not been up there yet. Maybe in the Spring.

I thought that BATF (Ugh) had put out that if  an Encore /Contender starts out life as a rifle, it must always stay a rifle.  You couldn't make it into a pistol???

Sounds like CT is making life very difficult for it's citizens!
