308 15' barrel vs 7mm-08 barrel (encore)

which would be the better of the two, and why? I can handle recoil with no problem, and reload for both in rifles, just loking for one that handles and/or shoots better than the other.

"Nip & Tuck".  If you're a deer hunter, just pay your money and take your choice.  If you shoot at things larger than deer, the heavier bullet capability of the .308 comes into play....a little!  I have both and honestly need to get rid of one, because it's just a waste of a good barrel and scope.   :o ::) :o Did I actually say that ??? :P

308Win.
1) easier to find loaded ammo in most shops.
2) easier to find lighter bullet weights 125 to 130 grains that are deer rated bullets.
3) I am partial to 308 Win.  It will twist your wrist off.
I shoot 30-30 in my contender, My friend had a 308 but said it was too much and went to 250-3000 (250 Savage) as his deer round.  Nice to shoot (Scott are you here? tell the man your own story)

I don't think there is ENOUGH difference in these 2 rounds to argue over. Both will do a great job on deer. Both can be used on larger game within reason. Both are very accurate and make fine varmint shooting rigs. Yes you CAN find the .308 easier, BUT is that because the 7-08 shooters grab their ammo quicker? I hunted for some 30-06 ammo in Maine one year and had to go to 5(FIVE) different shops to find 2 boxes. (Air lines CAN lose every thing but a wife you want lost!). The 7mm bullet MAY fly a bit flatter when started at equal velocity. That .8" (8/10th) wont mean a hit at 300 yards when sighted in at 200 though. Both come in comparable weight guns, but then the 6.5's are available also! MY opinion is neither or both are great for YOUR needs. I favor the 7's from 7t/cu to the 280 Remington. I do have a bunch of .30 caliber guns also.

I also have both, But the 308 ammo is everywhere. 7-08 is available  but harder to come by as not everyone carries it.

It would be the 308 for me! I've been a 7MM fan for some time, but I used to have a 7MM-08 and wasn't impressed with, actually developed a dislike for it, so it was sold. But then the choice is yours. Then there is as mentioned already the 6.5's, my favorite caliber.
