custom fore end? DONE
« on: February 05, 2010, 06:14:42 AM »
I am trying to build a custom fore end for my TC Encore .223 pistol.
Question is?
Should I just drill the matching holes for mounting to the barrel or is there a specific mounting you would recommend and/or prefer?
Benefit?

thanks,
MJO

If I understand what you asking. Unless your going to use a H-Bar or tap new holes in your barrel you will have to drill the holes in your forearm to match the same pattern on the barrel.

Thanks David,
that is what I am asking.  I will research a "H Bar".
What are the opinions of them?
The way I built the fore end the rear screw will not work without some fancy drilling and I have put too much into it to take a chance of messing it up.

thanks,
MJO

Where can I find H-Bar?  I tried google along with a lot of variations of tc, mounting, forearm, etc.

I like the H-Bar system. Strattons Customs and Bullberry Barrels both sell them. You do need proper tooling to set up a forearm for the H-Bar.

Here is a pic of an inletted forearm for the H-Bar.

I used Zebra Wood.  Has 5 coats of urethane on it.  I was going to make it about 3-4" longer, but when I was ready to cut I liked the way I thought it would look with the angle matching up with the flute cuts on the prohunter barrel.  My hand fits into the box cut out of the bottom.
