new/used 45/70 BC

I got it Sat. It has a funny looking reciever on it(to me) it looks like
it was s/s or nickel and has been heat treated over that.  maybe not a good
discription, the reciever does not look like any i have seen. don't think it will
affect the shooting and that is what i want it to do.

Could it be that the color case hardening is highly worn?

that could be, it is shinny on top of the reciever where it would be handled most
if that is the case i should not have to worry about the barrel being brohen in :o

No, I wouldn't think so! I love my BC...best gun I ever bought. I just started reloading cast bullets for it...now I have to find an ore deposit on my place, QUICK!!!
