Well, I assume that Big Green did not release a ML for NEF in 2010. Maybe 2011? Ever?

I don't know if they'll make a rifle this year, but the Huntsman accessory barrels are supposed to be available sometime between now and the end of March, that was that last email I received concerning them before my H&R contact went away.  :-\

I already made that assumption, last year. I sure won't be holding my breath while waiting. Haven't heard of anything new for H&R/NEF.

I can't imagine the muzzleloader market is a high profit/ high sales part of the operation, I can see where continuing the barrel accessory part of the company would allow another piece of production to continue if demand for the other single shot product slows down. It appears they cannot meet all firearm production demand now, so waiting for a muzzleloader barrel might incline one to pack a snickers bar.

I would think they would be way ahead $$$ to just do an accessory barrel and not another frame.

It would nice to see the Sidekick/Huntsman make a comeback, but I would just have concerns about how good they would be. I am not sure if I just got a 1 in 1000 made gun, but I have never had ANY problems with my gun, it shoots straight as an arrow, is as dependable as the sun rise, and I wouldnt trade it for a dump truck full of cash. Now some argue the huntsman doesnt have the sexiest lines and eye pleasing features other ML's have, but Im not out to win a beauty padgent because I am a sportsman.

It just seems that the later in production stages the gun made it, the more problems it had, or is it just me? But it would still be nice for the barrell program to make a come back, especially as popular as ML are today. But then again I am no business owner so I dont know about the profit section here. I just enjoy hunting with a genuine American made product that is like the game I pursue: it hasnt really changed since its been around.

Hey Walmpus,
Here's my story and I'm sticking to it:
I got into muzzleloading in 2005 after many years of trying to talk my Dad into doing it together, up til then we had been die hard centerfire hunters.  We did our research and agreed the sidekick was the best flash bang for the buck so to speak.  We ordered them together, me the blued wood as I am of the same spoprtsman mind as you, my Dad the Black Stainless, and my Uncle, who we hooked into it with us the next year, the Camo Stainless as ironically, they have gotten a bit more progressive in their older age.

To make a long story longer, my least expensive of the three sidekicks, shot the best out of the box.  My Dad's, bought the same year as mine, did just fine.  However, my Uncle's most expensive model, purchased a year after ours, was the only one of the three to give us any trouble, we almost ran out of windage adjustment before it finally dialed in.  For what it's worth, maybe you have something there...
