Williams Sights for a 45/70
« on: January 25, 2010, 06:15:38 PM »
I looked in the FAQ's and had some questions about the different sights available for the Handi.  I have a 45/70 on layaway and was thinking about scope alternatives.  I was looking at the FP series and the WGRS series sights. What are the benifits of one over the other?  Do they simply replace the rear sight?  When did they start using the smaller screws for the front sights?  I believe this is a 2005 model.

Thanks for the help

Aaron

Those peep sights mount in the two rear scope mount holes, H&R has switched back and forth on the front sight screw sizes, my 2007 357 and 44 mag barrels have 3-48 screws, I have two 22" 45-70 barrels, the older barrel has 3-48, the 2004 has 6-48, and my even older 357(35 Rem) and Hornet barrels both have 3-48!!  ::)

Thanks Tim

Am I correct that:
The FP series has more accurate adjustments, much like a scope, turn screw click adjustments.
The WGRS is more like a standard rear sight in the adjustments, loosen a screw and slide up the ramp.

Yes, the WGRS is a hunting sight, the FP TK has the micrometer target knobs.
