Got my 243 barrel today

I traded my 204 barrel, that I could not get to shoot, to a gentleman that said he thought he could, for a 243 barrel. I got the barrel today. Took it out of the tube and tried it on my frame. It was tight for the first couple of closings, had to snap it fairly hard, but is real smooth now. It locks up solid and has zero play and the barrel release has a good bit of play when closed. I am going to try a .001 shim in the morning, but I don't think I will be able to pull it outm when closed. Is this to tight. Thanks, Don

There's no such thing as too tight if you're referring to the barrel to frame gap, but there's more to fit than just that, you need to check latch engagement too, that's covered in the barrel fitting also.
