Used Shotgun to add pistol caliber barrel to ?

What is the max price you would pay for a used shotgun
if you are planning on sending it in to get an accessory
barrel in 357 or 44 mag  without costing more than
just getting a brand new 357 mag Handi Rifle ?


I am roughly thinking that if you can get an eligible
shotgun for 100 or less then you might pay $125 including
shipping for NEF to add a new barrel with the resulting
total being $225.    They new pistol caliber rifles cost about
that much dont they  ?  ( referencing the recent post about
guns sold at Buds.)

i'm thinking you would almost be better off to just buy a new pardner in say a 20 gauge or whatever gauge pleases you, i believe the going rate for a new pardner is around 125. you can sell the barrel for around 50-60 bucks and then only have around 65-75 bucks or so invested and you have a brand new frame. and you wouldn't have to worry about what modifications or problems a used frame might come with

What Zack said, brand new Pardners sell for $100-$130, the local chain store just had em on sale for $99.99 in the last couple months, sell the barrel $50, send the frame in.  A used Pardner shouldn't cost more than $50-$60 locally.

I got my son's Pardner out last friday and called H&R with the serial #. It turned out to be an 88 model. It got boxed up and shipped to Ilion for a 357 barrel. Prices for accessory barrels have escalated. Last barrel cost me $127 total this one will be more than $150.

So if a used pardner can be bought for 75 bucks and the barrel then
sold for 50, then add $150 for new 357 barrel, tot price would be $200
I think I have seen some Pardners in pawn shops for $65 bucks.

I didnt know the accessory barrel prices went up.    I Shoulda bought
one earlier.   I wish they would at least keep the website updated
correctly.

seems so much simpler  to just buy the gun you want

even  if it cost  $100 more

buy  a  44 or 357........ $250
get  a shot gun.......... $125
                               $375 total
2 guns ready to go  and  i pile of spare parts  
should  the one you need  breaks
and  no  hassle....its  just a days pay
