The .280 is a outstanding under appreciated  round. Generally very well shooting and lower recoil, Huge bullet selection and easy to load, They will  do anything a 7X57 or 7-08, but can extend to longer ranges. Cases are easy to get but can be made from .30-06s. Mine shoots 1" groups at 100 yard easy and I haven't done anything to it yet, I hope to stretch the range to 500 yards but haven't done so yet. 8)

I've hunted with a 280 for thirty years. I always use 150 grain Speer bullet over IMR 4350. I own lots of rifles but this is my go to rifle both in the mountains and farm fields around home. It shoots flat and far thats what I like.

One other thing the 280 case is longer then the 30-06. I wouldn't use 06 brass the shoulder won't be far enough ahead. Besides 280 cases are easy to get. Mike

The 280 has been my "go-to" round for several years.  I got rid of my 7 Mags cause the 280 just works so good, not that much difference for ME in MY hunting.  With todays bullets, you can do just about anything you want in the lower 48 with the 280.  I like the 139-140 weights, just change bullet construction if I need a tougher bullet.  Had good luck with IMR 4350 and RL 19 for powder, am gonna try some of the new Hybrid 100 this spring.  DP

I have used them with my 280's.  One of the stores had a close out on them after hunting season 3-4 years ago, before the price went outa sight.  At $12.00 a box I couldn't pass em up, bought the last 11 boxes, down to just a couple left.  My Handi didn't like em as well as some of my hand-loads, would keep em in a 2" group. My old Ruger with the tang safety just loves em, keeps em under 3/4" at a 100 yd.  Haven't used them on anything bigger than mule deer, but they do a great job on them.  They are a sexy lookin' round, nickle case, black bullet with a silver tip.  DP
