S&W model 66 357
« on: January 20, 2010, 03:00:59 PM »
I got a Smith & Wesson model 66 and it shows some wear from shooting it. It is a stainless steel pistol and I was wondering if there is any way to buff out the wear marks i've looked on the net and they say use 350 grit emery cloth some flitz and a gray scotchbrite pad.

If you're talking about the shiny spots on the cylinder made by the lock, why bother, they will be right back.

Hello
Yup, There sure is. Get your self some of that 3-M Green scotch brite scouring pad and run it in lateral strokes down the cylinder. it will make it look just like it did when it left the factory..Hammerdown

Fordman, Yes you can use it on the whole gun. Alot of peaple use mothers mag wheel polish, with a soft cloth to buff up the finish on there stainless steel guns. If you want to put the time into it, you can actually make the finish look like a chrome gun. It just depends on how much you polish it, and the shine you want on your finish.
I do it better outdoors !
